Ep. 113 Fighting Off A Grizzly Attack and Hiking Back To Civilization With One Leg and A Crushed Skull

Think of the most brutal grizzly mauling you've heard of someone surviving. Now imagine that situation being even worse. Jeremy Evans is the toughest man on the planet. Period. As you will hear in this interview ten miles into the backcountry Jeremy FOUGHT OFF a sow grizzly when he accidentally came in between her and her cub. He fought her off 3 times without bear spray, a gun, or a knife and miraculously survived his horrific injuries. It's quite simply the most brutal bear attack I have ever heard of where the victim survived. Besides the bear attack, Jeremy is an expert hunter and we discuss his many successes hunting whitetails, mule deer, elk, moose, buffalo and more.

Is shed hunting worthless? There are plenty of Uncle Rico type bow hunters who will tell you it is. They will talk about the 180s and 2Hundies they almost shot, and how they were in totally different locations than where their sheds were found by a farmer two miles away. But are testimonies such as these to be trusted? Should all hunters accept them at face value, and conclude for themselves that shed hunting has no value? Ep. 109 Tracking Jaguar’s with Hounds and Preparing To Save Your Life In The Backcountry with Zeff Prina of My Medic

Broad head lodged deep in your thigh 10 miles into the back country = dude, you're screwed.
Accidentally cut yourself really bad while field dressing an elk 7 miles from your truck  = dude, you're screwed.
Severe burns on your hands and arms from a grease fire on your camp stove 8 miles from cell service = dude, you're screwed.
Anaphylactic shock from allergic reaction to several wasp stings during a September archery elk hunt deep in a drainage with no cell service = dude, you're screwed,
Or not. Because you prepared well and put together a packable first aid kit you were able to treat your serious injury and buy yourself enough time to find the medical care you needed to save your life. In the end you made it safely back to your family and friends.

We've all seen it. The celebrity hunter who has documented themselves harvesting multiple big game animals and then they go on another hunting trip only to reveal their hunt camp meals of grocery store pork chops, moo cow steaks, and everything else other than that pure, clean, organic protein they were lauding just one episode earlier. They're guilty of it, sometimes I'm guilty of it, and there's a good chance you are as well. So how do we fix this? How do we enter the backcountry, or deer camp eating the food we claim motivates us to hunt?
