It's a difficult conversation to have, but one that must be addressed. And then once the talk happens, it must be followed by the walk. On this episode Eric Morris of Nontypical Outdoorsman joins me to talk about his mission of helping black men and women who would like to hunt find their way into the hunting community. Eric offers great advice for helping black hunters feel welcome, and identifies many of the hurdles that all of us can work together to remove so we can share hunting with all who are interested in participating.

Ep. 101 Hunt Therapy: Cloud Nine

There ain't no feeling like a filled tag feeling. I like to refer to this sensation as floating around on cloud nine, and that's what Alex and I are fixing to do on this episode. We are enjoying the vibe of a couple of filled buck tags. I killed an old 15 point Iowa beast back in October and Alex shot a beautiful 8 point in Kansas on the first of December. Ep. 99 Buck Tales with Joe Shead

On this episode Brandon and I were joined by the always entertaining Joe Shead of www.goshedhunting.com. Joe is a long time outdoor writer, and one of my favorites at that. This is also Joe's third interview on the podcast so he has been with First Gen Hunter since the earliest days. In the past Joe has provided us with the details of his Alaska Bull Moose adventure, and his insight on how to find moose, and whitetail antlers in the North Woods. This time though we get a run down on everything Joe has been up to in the outdoors since the last time we talked. Of course, whenever you are talking to Joe their will be plenty of humor and funny misadventures included in the story telling- such as shed hunting half naked, snapping a TV personality's $400 musky rod in half, and plenty of other great stories. But the main thing we talk about is the release of Joe's latest book: "Buck Tales" which is now available for purchase. Ep. 98 When Bird Dogs Are In Your Blood with Ron Boehme

Ron Boehme is one of the most recognizable voices in the gun dog community. Not just because of his hilarious sense of humor, but because he lives and breathes gun dogs. I like to say he covers the gamut of the hunting dog community from blue collar to white collar. As you will hear in this episode Ron hunts all over the country with all of his dogs and many of his best friends, and he also serves as an official judge for NAVHDA testing of trained hunting dogs. The conversation covers much of Ron's background in hunting as well as upland conservation issues, and even his opinion of my bird dog breed- the American Brittany. It's a great conversation, Ron had me laughing much of the time and I am sure he will the same effect on you, and of course he also drops some great insight on what hunting with dogs is all about. 
 
Garrett Feik also jumped in on this one to provide a few deer hunting tips to keep in mind during this last week of October.
